Abstract:

ObjectiveTo explore the correlation between self-management behavior and quality of life in elderly patients with hypertension, so as to provide reference for improving the quality of life of elderly patients.

MethodsA total of 150 elderly patients with hypertension were selected by convenient sampling.The general information questionnaire, hypertension patients self-management behavior rating scale and generic quality of life inventory-74 were used to investigate.

ResultsThe total scores of self-management of elderly hypertensive patients with different ages, educational levels and economic status were statistically significant (P < 0.05 to P < 0.01).The total scores of quality of life of elderly hypertensive patients with different ages, educational levels and economic status were statistically significant (P < 0.05).The total scores of self-management and the scores of each dimension were positively correlated with the total scores of quality of life (P < 0.01).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that emotion management, medication management and exercise management were the influencing factors of quality of life in elderly patients with hypertension (P < 0.05 to P < 0.01).

ConclusionsImproving self-management of elderly patients with hypertension, especially emotion management, medication management and exercise management, can help to improve the quality of life of patients.
