Don’t spend money on stupid things - bottled drinks, crap processed food, etc. Learn to cook dishes based on beans. Manicures. Cable TV.
High-cost cell phone plans. Check out Mint Mobile. Buy refurbished. Far cheaper to buy a certified refurbished or last year’s overstock phone and Mint Mobile than using any plan that includes a “free” phone.
Adjust your thermostat and turn things off.
Limit driving. Combine trips.
Shop resale.
Cut your own hair if you can. This is easy for long hair. Easy to trim bangs. And for men with short hair, easy with those electric clippers.
Do not run up credit card bills. If you can’t pay in full, don’t buy it.
Keep your bank balances so you don’t end up paying overdraft fees and the like. IF you can’t then you may need to close the account.
I wouldn’t know much about the bank fee issue as I’ve never been this broke. Partly because I always do the other things I listed.

First, make and stick to a budget. That will make sure that you spend as much money as you can while saving.
Cut out unnecessary expenses, like eating out, and try to cook at home.
Use cashback apps like Rakuten, chaching.me or Honey, all are good ways to save on shopping, adn while it may not give you that much, anything saved makes a difference.
Shop secondhand, avoid using credit cards that you can’t pay off.
Keep yourself entertained cheaply, instead of seeing a movie, go for a walk.

Money has always been tight. Here are some of the things that I do:
Stay away from restaurants.
Follow the Mexicans. Shop where they shop.
Keep money in banks that you have to drive to in order to get the money.
If you have a surplus of money… like at tax refund time, buy some gold and/or pay off any outstanding bills. If you don’t have cash on hand, you won’t spend it.
Give any potential wife the paper and pencil test. Give her a piece of paper and a pencil. Tell her to set up a household budget. If she stares at you with a confused expression, pay for her drink and leave. If, however, she draws a “T” on the paper, labels one column “expenses” and the other column “revenue”, then starts asking questions related to income, bills and possibly hard assets if she extends this rudimentary income statement to a balance sheet, that one is a “keeper”.
Don’t buy new cars.
If the woman looks expensive, she probably is. Shop for wives in places like libraries, grocery stores and maybe churches. Odds are the goods there will be of better overall quality than those you will find in a tavern.
Pay people what they are worth and don’t try to beat them down. Some day, you might need a favor… and service people have long memories.
Don’t get divorced.
Don’t live in New York City or anywhere in California.
Do NOT have a credit card and don’t borrow money.
Learn the difference between wants and needs. You don’t always get what you want in life. Sometimes that is a good thing. Consider the very real possibility that if the woman tells you “no”, she may be doing you a very big favor.
I am not especially wealthy. I don’t own my own home and I have seldom made much more than minimum wage. I live in an old farm house in the country and drive a 2009 Lincoln Town Car. I have few if any outstanding bills. I keep enough cash on hand to handle current expenses and put the rest into long-term investments… not always the ones my financial advisor(s) suggest.
You cannot live on nothing, but you can live on very little. Our ancestors “made do” with what they had. This is something modern people have forgotten how to do.

What are some tips that you use when money is tight?
When you log into your bank account, how do your savings look? Probably not as good as you’d like. It always seems like an uphill battle to build (and keep) a decent amount in savings.
But what if your car breaks down, or you have a sudden medical bill?
We’re not judging — we don’t roll like that. We’re here to help. We just don’t want you to have to sell those Elvis-Presley-signed velvet pants you inherited just to pay some lousy plumbing bill. Those pants are sweet.
Try these tips to get the ball rolling, and start building up your savings so you can breathe a little easier.
